Welcome to our Pollinator Gardens

🌼 Explore Our Village Pollinator Gardens!

Newcomerstown is blooming with beauty — and purpose! In addition to our main pollinator garden, we’ve planted several vibrant pockets of pollinator-friendly flowers throughout the village. You’ll find colorful, buzzing gardens at Cy Young Park, Simonds-Heller Park, and in several welcoming areas around town. These spaces are not only beautiful to walk by or sit near, but they also play a vital role in supporting bees, butterflies, and other important pollinators. We invite you to take a stroll, snap a few photos, and enjoy the natural charm these gardens bring to our community. Keep your eyes open — you never know where you’ll find a patch of pollinator paradise!

Why pollinator gardens?

Our Pollinator Garden is part of our commitment to sustainability, beauty, and community engagement. Whether you’re a gardener, student, or passerby, we invite you to stop by, enjoy the blooms, and learn about the tiny heroes working quietly among the flowers.

🌸 Meet the Pollinator Plants in Our Gardens

Coneflower (Echinacea)

Creeping Thyme (Thymus serpyllum)

Creeping Thyme (Thymus serpyllum)

  • Pollinators Attracted: Bees, butterflies, and even goldfinches (who love the seeds!)
  • Bloom Time: Mid to late summer
  • Why We Love It: Coneflowers are native, drought-tolerant, and bloom for weeks with beautiful purple or pink petals. They’re a favorite landing spot for butterflies and help sustain pollinators through the heat of summer.

  • Pollinators Attracted: Bees and other small pollinators
  • Bloom Time: Late spring to early summer
  • Why We Love It: This fragrant, low-growing groundcover spreads beautifully and is often covered in tiny pink or purple blooms that bees absolutely adore. It also adds a charming touch to pathways and borders.

Geraniums (Pelargonium)

Creeping Thyme (Thymus serpyllum)

Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta)

  • Pollinators Attracted: Bees and butterflies
  • Bloom Time: Spring through fall (with regular deadheading)
  • Why We Love It: Geraniums add bright color and cheerful energy to our gardens. While not native, their long bloom season and hardy nature make them a great support plant for pollinators.
